Criminal Defense
Due to his life-long interest in the criminal justice system, Robert also practices in the area of police misconduct and criminal defense. Robert is and has been involved in a number of police shooting cases. Robert’s criminal defense practice is broad, from misdemeanors through felonies, including murder trials. Robert also handles personal injury cases that are referred to the firm.
Sex Crimes
Megan has built a national practice representing hundreds of victims of sexual abuse and assault, assuming a leadership role in some of the most significant sexual abuse cases in the country. She recently served as one of a small group of attorneys representing the Survivors’ Creditor Committee for over 400 victims of former Olympic women’s gymnastics team doctor Larry Nassar, securing a $390 million dollar recovery against United States Gymnastics and the United States Olympic Committee. Recently Megan also served on the Plaintiffs’ Steering Committee for the over 1,000 victims of former University of Michigan Doctor Robert Anderson which recently settled for $490 million. Ongoing litigation cases also include representation of an autistic child physically abused by his teachers at Promedica’s Bixby Autism Center and over 30 Eastern Michigan University students who allege that the Title IX office and campus fraternities concealed scores of complaints of sexual assault thereby fostering a dangerous campus environment.

Cary is a founding partner of the firm. True to the mission of the firm, Cary’s practice has focused on representing victims of employment discrimination and civil rights violations, holding corporate and governmental entities accountable for their wrongdoings, and achieving justice for her clients. Cary has been a leader in numerous landmark cases, including class actions against the Michigan Department of Corrections on behalf of women and youth who were sexually assaulted while incarcerated ($100 and $80 million settlements), and the Flint Water Class Action ($624 million settlement). She is currently co-lead counsel in a groundbreaking case against the Environmental Protection Agency on behalf of Flint residents who were physically and emotionally harmed during the Flint Water Crisis due to the negligence of the federal government.

Robert Palmer merged his practice with the firm in 2002 as a full equity partner. Like the other members of the firm, Robert devotes a substantial amount of his time to representing individuals and groups in civil rights claims arising out of their employment. Robert has litigated numerous race, age, gender, national origin and sexual harassment cases through trial and appeal. He is proud to be a member of the National College of Labor and Employment Lawyers, having been elected to this national organization in 2010.
