Oklahoma Institute of Orthopedic Manual Therapy Home / Oklahoma Institute of Orthopedic Manual Therapy Oklahoma Physical Therapy Spine Care-Rehab, LLC ( OPT ) offers a 12-month fellowship program in orthopedic manual therapy. It has a strong emphasis towards the Norwegian and Osteopathic approaches to manual therapy with added components from the Maitland approach ; additionally there is strong emphasis on therapeutic exercise and movement science. The course work is offered at OPT North. OPT North is a 9, 000 square-foot outpatient physical therapy and training center in northwest Oklahoma City that specializes in orthopedic physical therapy, spine rehabilitation and preventive physical training. The fellowship's curriculum provides therapists with advanced training in examination and treatment handling skills, clinical decision-making skills, orthopedic knowledge, applied science, and advanced therapeutic exercise. The curriculum uses a comprehensive evidence-based program. The small lecture and lab sessions offer instruction to meet each fellow's individual needs. The program has a minimum standard that consists of 448 hours of manual skill instruction, 150 hours of clinical supervision and clinical consultation with a Fellow of the American Academy of Orthopedic Manual Physical Therapists ( FAAOMPT ), and 1460 hours of clinical practice with availability of FAAOMPT. The program is open to all physical therapists that have graduated from an accredited physical therapy school, who possess a valid Oklahoma Physical Therapy License, have at least 18 months of spine and orthopedic experience, and have take the OPT long-term course in orthopedic manual therapy. Interested applicants must submit a letter of intent indicating their level of passion in participating and completing the fellowship program. Applicants must also have the willingness to relocate at the time the rolling admission based position is available. Oklahoma Institute of Orthopedic Manual Therapy Fellowship is credentialed by the APTA. With the APTA credential, a graduated fellow will be eligible to apply for "Fellow" status in the American Academy of Orthopedic Manual Physical Therapists ( AAOMPT ), and because of the relationship established by the APTA and AAOMPT, would receive the FAAOMPT designation.
