        Specializing in both surgical and nonsurgical treatments of a variety of foot and ankle conditions, Vito La Puma, DPM, is a board-certified podiatric physician providing care at Healthy Step Podiatry in the Financial District of New York City. With over 1,400 surgical procedures under his belt, Dr. La Puma is committed to helping each patient reach their optimal health. Dr. La Puma graduated from Stony Brook University in Stony Brook, New York, where he was premed and earned a Bachelor of Science in biology. After completing his undergraduate studies, Dr. La Puma received his doctorate of podiatric medicine from the New York College of Podiatric Medicine. He received extensive training in reconstructive foot and ankle surgery during his residency at Interfaith Medical Center in Brooklyn. Dr. La Puma has also received training in orthopedics and vascular surgery and is currently the acting attending for the podiatric surgical residency at the Brooklyn Hospital Center. As a member of the Healthy Step team, Dr. La Puma provides a variety of surgical treatments for bunions, hammertoes, heel pain, congenital deformities, and sports-related injuries. In addition to providing patient care, Dr. La Puma is also an active member of the American Board of Podiatric Medicine as well as the New York State Podiatric Medicine Association.

        amazing service and level of expertise

        Dr. La Puma was amazing! As a dancer and personal trainer, my feet are crucial in my career. He was detailed in his responses, explanations & spoke my language. I was seen immediately which was great with a busy schedule.

        His staff was also extremely friendly and attentive, which enhanced the experience that much more! Will highly recommend to friends/family :)

        best podiatrst in nyc!

        I came to Dr. La Puma for a second opinion after a different podiatrist misdiagnosed a dead toenail from stubbing trauma as fungus. I also needed to have an ingrown toenail removed and Dr. La Puma did so in the most painless way possible and explained every step of the way. His office staff is the best and is so accommodating of my work schedule. can't recommend them enough!!

        Phenomenal patient care

        I came into the office and was instantly treated like family. The front desk staff was courteous and warm. The medical assistant was very nice and very competent. Dr. La Puma has excellent bedside manner and thoroughly assessed my ailment and formalized an effective treatment plan. I highly recommend having your foot and ankle ailments treated by Dr. La Puma and his wonderful staff.
