The Montclair Fire Department provides fire protection and services to the Township of Montclair and the Borough of Glen Ridge in New Jersey. The department employs more than 85 career firefighters and maintains apparatus, such as engines and trucks. It provides fire prevention services and is responsible for issuing certificates of compliance for smoke and carbon monoxide detectors. The Montclair Fire Department operates through the administration division and fire prevention and training bureaus. Montclair Township has a population of over 35,000 and covers an area of approximately 6 square miles. The township operates a university, hospital and theater, as well as several schools, parks, houses of worship and movie theaters.
