The Service Master Company, who is a worldwide provider of commercial and residential home service companies including ServiceMaster Clean, TruGreen/ChemLawn and Terminix, purchased the company in 1989. I had a Home warranty with American Home Shield for over 2 years. On 12/7/220201 the Torsion spring for the garage opening mechanism broke. I checked the home warranty contact, the contact covers garage door opening mechanisms but excluded the track and actual door. The contact is silent regarding the spring mechanism. I assumed that the torsion spring was covered. I submitted a service request. The contracted service technician called the following day, 12/8/2021, and set an appointment for 12/9/2021. When the technician arrived on 12/9/2021 he said that the torsion spring is not covered and he does not have the parts to make the repair. I called American Home Warranty. American home warranty said that they consider the torsion spring to be part of the "track", although it is not specifically stated in the contract. They said that they will not cover the repair of the spring and because the technician had already arrived at our home they would still charge me the $100 service fee although no service or diagnostic was done. I have contacted American Home Shield and they have refused to reverse the $100 service charge. They have stated that although the contact does not specifically exclude the torsion spring they maintain their position that the part is part of the track assembly. I have been unable to come to a resolution with this company.

Awful, awful, awful experience! Just hire a company and deal with them yourself! They will deny for pre-existing conditions! I placed a claim for service for my air conditioning unit. I was told the unit had coverage. I paid a $100 service fee and the technician told me he tested the system for leaks. He said that the leak test came back inconclusive. He said that the Freon most likely leaked out of the evaporative coil and I would need another one. I waited 6 days, hadn’t heard anything so I called American Home Shield. They told me my claim was denied because this was a “pre-existing condition” for a defect or mechanical failure that I knew nothing about. She told me that this fell under “undetectable pre-existing conditions which are defects or mechanical failures” that could not have been detected by visual inspection. I told them I’ve used the air conditioner since I moved into the house in 2012 and I haven’t had a problem with it until this summer. It’s a 2006 unit - if this isn’t a case of normal wear and tear, I don’t know what is! She said that since it took time for it to leak out of the system it was a pre-existing condition. I told her that it’s not a defect or mechanical failure because I’ve had the system since 2006. If it were with of those two things this would’ve happened sooner than that. She told me I could not appeal the decision. That American Home Shield does not have an appeals process. She said my only recourse was small claims court.

I am writing this to make a complaint about Home Shield. We got a letter in the mail about re-newing our American Home Shield Contract. There were options to pay full contract or pay monthly. My wife choose the option to pay monthly. Shortly , we got a billed for more than a month, my wife contacted customer service, talked with Lorencia, on 3/19/2017, and found out we were the 2nd customer who called to complain. Lorencia, told my wife that she was told today(3/19/2017) , that to do the monthly payment plan, you must give Your banking info, so they can take it out monthly. There was no info like that in the re-newel letter. I will be calling the headquarters in Memphis Tenn, to complain. A very un-happy Customer.....

From the time i called AHS with my request all the way through the finish everyone was courteous and very professional. the contractor arrived on time, and did excellant job. he cleaned up after himself and made sure everything was working and there were NO leaks before he left. Never did he complain about the tight space he had to work in. AHS personnel are always helpful and very wonderful people.

IN our most recent experience with AHS, I filed a service request on-line at 6:30 AM. The assigned contractor called me by 11:00 AM and scheduled a service call for 1:00 PM. By 2:00 PM, my AC problem was resolved. I have been a customer for 9 years and have always received prompt reliable service.

WE HAD A PROBLEM WITH WASHING MACHINE WE CALLED AMERICAN HOME SHIELD AND THEY SET UP AN APPOINTMENT WITH BIG BILLS APPLIANCE, THEY CALLED AND MADE AN APPOINTMENT WITH MY WIFE . THEY WERE PROMPT AND VERY NICE AND HAD THE PROBLEM FIXED ,THEY HAD TO ORDER A PART, BUT KEPT US INFORMED AND CAME AND COMPLETED THE JOB. MY WIFE WAS PLEASED WITH THE WORK AND WITH COMPANY

Had a problem with my washer and dishwasher while ago.. I make an appointment through computer. The contractor contact me soon after and have arrange a time to check out .The technician find out the problem with my washer . Ordered the part right away and adjusted the dish washer with the advice of care. And arrange another time come back to install . The whole service experience was smooth and helpful. I have recommended some of my friends about AHS . A little suggestion for the website. Maybe customer can indicate the problem and info with their item . So the contractor can be prepare for the parts. It might save a trip and time for both contractor and customer.

I've had a wonderful experience with American Home Shield. I recently had problems with my thermostat. It wasn't working and as a result I didn't have any heat. The contractor responded quickly and resolved my problem in less than an hour. My thermostat had to be replaced. The contractor sat down with me and went over how to use the new one. He was very patient with me and answered all my questions.

We contacted AHS regarding an electrical receptacle which was not working. We were afraid of a fire and contacted AHS. They expedited our request and the electrician they sent was very courteous, on time and knowledgeable. He fixed our problem. We are very pleased with the service we have received with AHS. We have been customers for 7+ years.

My dishwasher was replaced just as advertised! But the process is a bit long, drawn out and painful. However, in the end after many rounds of dishwasher pricing we decided to forego the upgrade process and purchase one from Sears. AHS cut us a check for the value of the old one and we were done.

The process to call in for a leak at my Kitchen Faucet was easy and straight forward. One number to call. I feel American Home was not at fault when they sent a plumber that was not that familiar with sweated on fittings, The second contractor they sent was alot better and knew how to replace our faucet..Both contractors were neat and polite.

The last contractor called me within 30 minutes of me putting the repair into the system. They called the day of the appointment and said they could come earlier than scheduled. They showed up and fixed the leaking garbage disposal quickly.
