We love the doctors and staff at Angell and would recommend them to every pet owner. They truly care about animals and are passionate about their health and wellbeing. The staff takes the time to understand unique challenges and are able to educate pet parents on the best course of treatment based on the individual needs of the animal.

Animals get people quality care Angell has been amazing for my cat's failing kidneys and heart disease. The treatment is top notch, and moving away was a lot harder because I knew they're tough act to follow. My new vet in MI is impressed with the level of care my cat received at Angell. The service is highly personalized and you feel like you really are doing the best you can for your sick pet.

I've worked in a human hospital for 30+ years and I think Angell provides a superior care experience in so many ways. They are more polite and considerate, offer excellent veterinarian expertise and unparalleled follow up. If you love your animal, this is where you should bring him/her for care.

You will receive the VERY BEST veterinary care in the New England region, hands down! The wait is generally very short. The waiting areas are well-lit and very CLEAN. The staff is ALWAYS kind, concerned, courteous and very patient. Angell has made the veterinary care experience very efficient, cost -effective and most importantly, most health-effective. For those who truly care and love their pets, the care they receive is paramount, and the efficacy and quality are VERY important. Angell does all this...and more. The care received by animals at Angell is not-so-different than that a human may receive not more than a mile away on "hospital row" on Longwood Avenue. It is a very reassuring and comforting experience to have one's pet receive care at Angell!

it reminds me of a people hospital but for animals....it is the perfect place and makes you feel at ease. And the prices are not bad. I had to bring my dog into the emergency at 3am and everyone was so helpful and kind. I was a mess and was nervous for my dog. they took very good care of him and sent me a message during the day letting me know how he was doing and the Vet called in the afternoon to let me know what needed to be done and when I could take him home. Everything was good and he didn't have to spend the night. I was very happy to take him home. They also informed the Vet he goes to for his regular visits about his stay at Angell that was very nice. the only thing missing was a follow up call from Angell. I thought maybe they would have called after a few days of him being home....but maybe becuase they inform our regular vet they didn't do a follow up.Everything else was wonderful and great if i ever have another emergency Angell will be the first place we go! I appriciate the phone call updates during his stay also how nice and understanding everyone was. I was so sad and felt horrible they really made me feel better.

Administrative matters don't go smoothly; check your estimates and invoices carefully; ask questions to find out everything you want to know about your pet; be prepared to wait and then have a shortened appointment; and you may need to really advocate for your pet (don't assume they're giving the best care). Angell is also super-expensive. Overall, they are riding on some earlier reputation that doesn't really apply anymore. I was disappointed that examining doc (Avian/Exotics) said she only does procedures once a week and we'd need to wait 9 days for my pet to have her teeth trimmed. She could not eat and had lost a lot of weight, so for me to force-feed her for more than a week (to keep her alive) was challenging/scary and made me think Angell does not put patient care first. When I inquired about having procedure sooner, I was informed another doc may be able to do that. It was never presented as an option by first doc. I left several messages trying to arrange that, and had to follow-up because nobody called me back to discuss scheduling nor told me that other doctor wouldn't return to the hospital for several days. Each time it sounded like they'd check with him and I'd hear back soon (same day or tomorrow) -- not the case. I was somewhat relieved my pet was treated 2 days sooner than initial schedule, but was also disappointed by phone message from that doctor (no details), my needing to ask for information when we finally spoke, and needing to wait for pick-up about 40 minutes even though I arrived an hour later than I said I would (she was "ready to go home" at 3:00; I said 5:00 but arrived around 6:00; didn't get her until 6:45). I also learned that my pet's ears were not examined thoroughly while she was under anesthesia, as I was told they would be during appointment with diagnosing doc. And I received mixed messages about her treatment: keep giving antibiotics and "her culture was negative." I was pleased with the helpers who brought my pet back to me and asked if I had questions and offered to explain meds -- that doesn't always happen. The front desk folks are also getting a bit better (faster). My pet did not recover well (took a long time) -- I don't think that's the result of bad care at Angell, yet I also haven't wanted to follow-up with doctors there. My previous visit to Avian/Exotics section (different pet) was even more disappointing: paid for 40 minutes and didn't get much more than 15-20. More importantly, doctor did not notice problems with pet's teeth... couldn't perform a good mouth exam, which seems basic and was the reason we came. I ended up going somewhere else where the doc noticed problems easily and later informed me that pet had 12 problem teeth and an entrapped tongue (why she couldn't eat). That other clinic handled the dental trim (and is cheaper than Angell). I am grateful, however, that an Angell resident (exotics) was able to euthanize my pet on short notice when she did not recover well and felt awful after the dental work (might have been due to abdominal tumor)... and the technician who assisted with that difficult appointment was wonderful.Overall I'm not pleased with communication there, prices, expertise, compassion, bureaucracy. Angell is clearly a business, and care of pets and owners does not seem to be priority. I will likely return only when my other options don't work; although Angell is most convenient for me (location/accessibility), it is no longer my first choice for Exotics care. My pet is also getting an ultrasound elsewhere because I heard not-great things about a radiology doctor there and cannot spend a fortune to be disappointed again.Things have really gone downhill there... at least for avian/exotics section. I've heard several other excellent doctors left the hospital also. I have stopped donating money to Angell, even though the mission of MSPCA is near and dear to my heart. Best parts: I guess hospital has the most equip
