Dr. Turkeltaub offers his patients a variety of liposuction techniques which can be selectively used depending upon a variety of factors. More than one technique is often employed during surgery. One of these, ultrasonic assisted liposuction, utilizes ultrasound waves to disrupt the fat, allowing for easier, more even fat removal. This approach provides an increased margin of safety. Its use can also lead to superior results with more thorough and even fat removal than could be obtained in the past with standard liposuction alone.

With the rare exceptions, Dr. Turkeltaub recommends placing the breast implants behind the muscle for several reasons. They look and feel more natural and there is a lower associated rate of the development of firm scar tissue forming around the breast implants which can result in the breasts feeling hard (known as capsular contracture). Quite importantly, the breasts can be seen much better on mammography in this location.

Dr. Turkeltaub attended the honors Six-Year Medical Program at Boston University and Boston University School of Medicine. He completed both college and medical school in just six years rather than the normal eight or more years and received Bachelors of Arts (B.A.) and Medical Doctor (M.D.) degrees. He graduated Summa Cum Laude and was selected to both Phi Beta Kappa, the national scholastic honor society, and Alpha Omega Alpha, the national medical honor society. Post-graduate training included a residency in general surgery at the University of Miami/Jackson Memorial Hospital in Miami and Northwestern Medical Center in Chicago. This was followed by training in plastic surgery at the University of Massachusetts Medical Center, where he learned from world-renowned plastic surgeons.

Eyelid Surgery
Eyelid surgery typically involves the removal of excess skin, muscle, and fat deposits from the upper and lower eyelids with some structural tightening and repositioning. The incisions employed are usually hidden to minimize the conspicuousness of post-surgical scarring. Upper eyelid incisions are made in the natural skin crease while lower lid incisions are placed right below the eyelashes. In certain situations, the incisions can be placed on the inside of the eyelid and will therefore be imperceptible. During the procedure, extra skin, fat and muscle are trimmed away to create a more vibrant and alert appearance. Once complete, the incisions are closed with very fine sutures to reduce the amount of scarring.

Post-operative discomfort is fairly mild and well-tolerated, and bruising may be present for up to a week more following the procedure. Makeup can usually be applied one week after a blepharoplasty. It can take several months for more long term results to be seen. The incisions fade rapidly and the scars are usually imperceptible.
Abdominoplasty
