Hilltop Carry Out

Yesterday I called Hilltop Glen Burnie after ordering online and asked the guy who answered the phone to PLEASE make sure the delivery person read the delivery instructions because the time before he didn't. I simply asked that the delivery person should call when he got here. I'm usually in the back of this 3,500 sq ft house, and almost deaf. I'll never hear a knock. The person on the phone said sometimes that happened and I reiterated PLEASE call when he gets here, thanked the guy and hung up. I was courteous. My order was as follows: Hotdog sub with LIGHT honey mustard, onions, and red hots. I also ordered WELL DONE fries and gravy on the side. The last part they got right. The gravy came on the side. The sub, however, was soaked so badly with what seemed to be mayo that the roll was complete mush. Next, the fries were so under-done and oil soaked that no one could have eaten them. I had a suspicion that the inedible meal was sent that way for DARING to call and ask that my delivery instructions be paid attention to. That proved to be right. Knowing why I got such vindictive service I sent a contact to their page. Sure enough it HAD TO BE the same guy as on the phone. The response was headed "So don't buy from us anymore." I was told honey mustard is soupy and that was my fault. As for the fries I was told I should expect that from delivery fries, although I've NEVER gotten any as close to bad as these were. I was then instructed if I want crispy fries next time make them myself. Apparently Hilltop has gone WAY down recently. But hey, all I lost is $22.00 for the worst delivery meal I've ever gotten in my 70 years of life. The real loss to me is never again doing business with a company that I started buying from in South Baltimore on the corner of Fort Avenue & Jackson Street when I was 15 in 1966. The guy on the phone either hates the elderly OR maybe he decided I'd been a Hilltop customer for too long. What they say is true. Eventually every good thing will turn to crap if you wait long enough. Goodbye, Hilltop.
