great service

Exceptional and quality care-they exceeded my expectations. I loved how much time and effort went into hepling me and my cat. The vet spend a lot of time explaining everything and hepled me understand what was happening with my cat. You can tell that every employee cares about the well being and happiness of all animals. I wont bring my cat anywhere else. Higher prices than others but you receive higher quality care than other vet offices I have been to. I would totally recommend this business!

Most dental problems are located under the gum line and radiographic images allow us to visualize this most important area. For a complete oral exam and thorough cleaning, all pets must be anesthetized for a professional dental cleaning procedure.
Vaccination

Comprehensive Examination
Prior to surgery, your pet will receive a complimentary complete physical examination. Pre-anesthetic bloodwork is also required for all pets prior to anesthesia, regardless of age. This bloodwork may detect potential health problems that could pose an anesthetic risk. Anesthetics are then specifically tailored to your pet.

Here at Paws of the Rockies, we highly recommend having your pet on heartworm prevention year round, or seasonally. The cost for treating heartworms is very expensive when compared to the cost of a monthly prevention. There are a few options for preventing heartworms in pets including injections, topical solutions, and monthly tablets, the latter being the most popular. When you come in for a visit we will be happy to advise you on the best course of preventative care for your pet.
Pain Management
We provide continuous monitoring of your pet with equipment that measures pulse oximetry, heart rate, respiratory rate, blood pressure, EKG, and body temperature throughout your petâ€™s surgery. The veterinarians at Paws of the Rockies Animal Hospital believe pain management is essential for optimal healing and recovery for your pet. We provide preemptive and postoperative pain medication for all surgical and dental procedures. Elective surgeries, such as spays and neuters, are performed with the same care and dedication as the more complex surgeries.

Upper Respiratory Illness Treatment
Once a cat is bitten they will develop HARD – Heartworm Associated Respiratory Disease. During this time your cat will experience shallow, rapid or difficult breathing along with coughing and wheezing. The symptoms are not dissimilar to that of feline asthma or bronchitis. Other symptoms that may present themselves are very non-specific such as changes in appetite, lethargy and weight loss. This makes heartworm much harder to detect in cats.

Leptospirosis Treatment
Leptospirosis- This vaccine is recommended for those dogs determined to be at a higher risk for acquiring the disease. This bacteria occurs when your dog comes into contact with infected urine or environment, mainly from raccoons or other wildlife. This infection can be transmitted to humans. Initially, this vaccine is given as two boosters. Thereafter, the vaccine is given annually.
Parvovirus Infection Treatment
DA2PP( Distemper Combo)- This vaccination includes several viral organisms that help protect the health of your pet. Distemper, Adenovirus, Parainfluenza, and Parvovirus are viral organisms that can cause gastrointestinal, respiratory, neurologic and liver problems in an unvaccinated patient. We recommend your puppy receive this vaccine at 8, 12 and 16 weeks of age. This is then repeated one year later. Based on your petâ€™s VRA, he/she will then receive this vaccine annually to every three years.
Bacterial and Viral Infection Treatment
Canine Influenza Vaccine for Dogs- Canine Influenza (H3N8) is a highly contagious viral infection spread by aerosolized respiratory secretions and contact with contaminated objects. Virtually all dogs that are exposed to H3N8 become infected with the virus. Approximately 80% develop clinical signs of disease, while the other 20% that do not exhibit clinical signs may still shed the virus and spread infection. The vaccine was created to aid in the control of canine influenza. Although the vaccine may not prevent infection altogether, it will reduce the severity and duration of clinical illness, reduce the amount of virus shed as well as shorten the shedding interval. Initially, a series of 2 vaccines should be given, approximately 2-4 weeks apart. Annual revaccination is recommended thereafter.
Ear Infection Treatment
Pet insurance was designed to prevent the need for euthanasia due to financial burden of medical treatments. There are many insurance companies that provide everything from wellness coverage (vaccinations, bloodwork, fecal checks, dentals, etc.) illness coverage (ear infections, vomiting, diarrhea, urinary tract infections, etc.) and accident coverage (toxicity, lacerations, foreign body obstruction, injuries from altercations, etc.). Some insurance companies will even have coverage for congenital or hereditary conditions. It is important when researching insurance companies to find one suited for your needs as premiums, deductibles, and coverage ranges widely.

Heartworm is a serious illness that can cause heart failure, lung disease, organ damage and even death in dogs, and cats. Heartworm is most prevalent in pets living along the Atlantic Gulf coasts from New Jersey to the Gulf of Mexico, and in those living alongside the Mississippi and its main tributaries. However, it has been found in pets in all of the US States.
Periodontal Disease Treatment
Did you know that 85% of pets over 6 years of age have some form of periodontal disease? Both dogs and cats are susceptible to dental disease. Dental disease not only results in obvious bad breath, but can cause serious systemic problems in pets as well. Harmful bacteria that accumulate in your pet's mouth can enter the bloodstream and travel to vital organs such as kidneys, liver, bladder and even the heart and compromise their function.

Laboratory Services
We also utilize an outside lab to provide blood, urine or tissue results. They can perform standard blood tests and many other specialized tests including thyroid levels, pathology, cultures, vaccine titers or PCR tests.
X-Ray
Good oral health care begins at home with regular brushings and an appropriate diet. Our qualified staff can show clients how to properly care for their pet’s teeth. We carry a complete line of dental care products to help your pet maintain good oral health. When necessary, we may recommend professional dental cleaning at our hospital. This includes the removal of harmful plaque and tartar, polishing and a fluoride treatment to help prevent decay. Digital radiography is available to evaluate the need for extractions and to view under the gum line where infection or broken roots may be. Oral radiographic images allow our doctors to see 70% of the tooth that is not visible with an exam.
Microchipping
Paws of the Rockies employ technicians that are trained to perform toenail trims, anal sac expressions, injections, ear flushing, microchip placement, blood draws, blood pressures, home care demonstrations, and product recommendations. Scheduling with a technician is quick and easy.

Did you know most dogs and cats are considered to be senior patients at 7 years of age? The veterinarians at Paws of the Rockies Animal Hospital believe early detection and diagnosis are key to optimal wellness- this is exceptionally true when it comes to senior health care. In order to provide optimal care for your senior pets, we recommend that â€œwellness visitsâ€ become more frequent and that we see your pet at least twice a year (every 6 months) for senior care and bloodwork. The doctors at Paws of the Rockies Animal Hospital may recommend bloodwork which includes a complete blood count (CBC), complete body chemistries which focus on organ function, thyroid function, and urinalysis. Together, we can help your senior pet live a longer, healthier life.
