May 2012. I wanted to have an allergy panel taken and was able to get an appointment quickly. I asked the nurse if there was anything I needed to do to prepare for the test and specifically if I should eat something with gluten in it (I had been on a gluten-free diet that was making me feel better) and she just listed a couple of medications that I should not take. Typical 45 min. in the waiting room. Mana staff were very friendly and Dr. Keller took the time to listen to my problem and discuss it with me. He seemed very nice and made me feel confident with him as my doctor. After we discussed the fact that I had been on a gluten free diet for over a month, he suggested I have a blood draw to test for celiac disease. Just before getting my blood drawn I started thinking, "Do I need to be on a gluten-containing diet?" and asked the nurse. She went to ask someone else and returned to say, "it should be fine." She was very patient and helpful with my light-headedness from the blood test. When Dr. Keller called me with my results, he said to continue to stay off gluten if it was helping me (sound advice, but not very profound).

After doing some research, I found that you have to be on a diet containing gluten for 4-6 weeks prior to the blood test! He was in the wrong by ordering this blood test. So, when I received a bill from the lab, I called the Mana office and explained my situation and said he or the office should pay this bill since it was his mistake. Janet told me there was nothing she could do and that I should get my insurance to pay for it. The cost isn't something so ridiculous that I would call a lawyer about it, but it's definitely worthy of a poor review. Now, I have to eat gluten for 4-6 weeks so I can re-take and re-pay for this test. I'm very disappointed in this doctor's office.

Conclusion: From my experience, it seemed like this doctor's office did not know much about "allergy," "immunology," or "diagnostics." After making a mistake, unwilling to accept it and fix it. I would not recommend them.
