The DeKalb County Sheriff s Office enforces laws and ordinances, preserves public peace and protects life and property. It is approved by the Commission on Accreditation for Law Enforcement Agencies and accredited by the National Commission on Correctional Health Care. The office has jail, field, court and administrative services divisions. The DeKalb County Sheriff s Office s jail services division is responsible for the care, custody and control of inmates, protection of inmate rights, and delivery of inmate programs and medical services. Its field services division includes a fugitive squad and Special Weapons and Tactics team. The DeKalb County Sheriff s Office is located in Decatur, Ga.
