The Positive Pooch

Not the type of training methods we were looking for. Loretta wanted us to use a prong collar and yank on it when our pup started to come out of her command or wasn't paying attention. This in turn caused our usually happy go lucky retriever to become very reserved and shut down during classes. Just wasn't the motivation that would be effective for our dog, and it made us as responsible dog owners feel like we were mistreating her by using this painful "correction" rather than truly positive methods.

Loretta hit my dog in the mouth because he wasn't taking a treat "gentle" enough and this was on the initial visit for dog walking after I gave a detailed history of my dogs fear/anxiety issues. You'd think on day one they would try to build trust with a dog like this and make sure the experience was 100% positive. Well she hit my dog(called it "correction") and it's safe to say he wasn't happy about it. Definitely suggest using another company.

I have used positive pooch for training all three of my dogs and always had a great experience. They learned quickly using her techniques. I have used her to walk my dogs also on numerous occassions and have always been more than satsified. I would highly recommend her to anyone who wants to attend her training classes or use her as a dog walker.

The Positive Pooch has been walking my dogs for years. They are awesome and we go to the puppy play dates as well as the training. The walker is always on time and the dogs love her! I would not trust anyone else with my dogs.

Don't use them for daily dog walks. The lady talks on the phone the ENTIRE time she's with a dog. What if there was an issue? She'd have no free hands? If she's holding a leash with one hand, and a phone in the other, how is she picking up poop? Oh, she's not. I see her leave it there.



They can't handle dogs with any kind of issue either. Call another company, don't use the Positive Pooch. More like Ignored Pooch.

I have a large breed dog with a personality of her own. She is a bit stubborn so I thought it would be best to get her involved in some much needed training classes. After a few weekely sessions, Loretta showed me how to give my dog positive reinforcement, and be the boss. I also signed her up for agility which she seemed to enjoy. After a year, my "bad" puppy is now a "GOOD CITIZEN" with a nice certificate to prove it.

positive Pooch also offers "doggie sitting." I like that Lorertta only houses a few dogs at a givemn time, which ensures that my puppy gets attention while she stays there. Loretta also matches them as best she can with other dogs that she knows they will play nicely with.

I would recommend her services and have many times.

About a year ago I rescued a dog with severe separation anxiety. From the advise of a friend I took him to the Positive Pooch. After just a few classes he responded amazingly well to the methods and overall training. A year later he is a well-adjusted dog who still enjoys going to the play dates where he learned to socialize with other dogs so well. I would highly recommend Loretta and the Positive Pooch for all training needs.

What a difference these classes made in my dog. She was always a sweet dog but she just didn't get what i wanted from her and we got into a bad cycle of negative behavior. Loretta's classes were just the ticket. She helped me start giving my dog clear instructions and once she knew what was expected of her we were off and running. My dog absolutely loves the work and classes. The classes are always fun so you dont realize how much work you are getting done. There are many special events too, playdates and a halloween party where your pup can strut its stuff!

I went to Loretta on the advice of a friend, and it didn't work. We tried 4 sessions, and I honestly think my dog got worse. Loretta was never on time, and didn't seem to really care. Anyway, after the 4 classes, I switched to Cindy Gaines, who has been in business for a long time......her methods worked, and she spent the extra time to make sure little Maddie was perfect!
