Such a low rating due to several reasons:

1) the order has been placed over the phone and it was specified that it consists of 3 separate order – all the rolls have been placed in the same bowl

2) Even though the place has been empty it took them 30 min to make the order (had to wait inside after arrival) – really, 4 rolls take 30 min to make?

3) I ordered their special roll – Magoya roll. It was tasty, but looked nothing like on the picture on the website. I paid 23$ for a special roll and a spicy tuna roll, so I would at least expect to get what I thought I ordered and on a separate plate.

I thought that since I just wrote a review for Blue Finn, which serves sushi, I might as well write one for my favorite sushi place EVER.... Magoya! Now, I only got hooked on sushi a couple of years ago. When I used to work for LLS all the girls in the office would order it so I thought I would be daring and try it out. Well ever since then I have been hooked and I am always on lookout for a new GOOD sushi place, especially since Warwick does not have much to offer in the sushi department. So anyway...one day (about a year or two ago) I decided that I would try this new restaurant that opened and thank god I did. Magoya was the best sushi place I have ever tried. It's a little bit on the expensive side, but it is totally worth it. Everything that I have tried is amazing. I have not been disappointed once. I try to go as often as I can, but for some reason a lot of my friends do not like sushi so it's hard to get them there. So if you are in the area and want some good sushi (defiantly try to special rolls) go to Magoya.

I first went to Magoya when it first opened. A little expensive for the area but I love sushi. The service was terrible, sushi rolls took an hour to make but I understood it was the first month it was open. Decided to give it another shot 4 months later. Same experience. Service extremely slow, and they seemed to have such an attitude for a new restaurant trying to get business. Well aside from my lack of better judgement I went there this weekend. I had a friend in from out of town so we headed over there. Waitress rolled her eyes when we asked for the booth. Food took FOREVER yet again. When we asked for refills on the drinks they were never brought over. A waitress kept climbing into the booth with us to play with the blinds, not once but twice. Sushi was not the best quality. The quality does not live up to a traditional sushi restaurant. It was just like the sushi packs you can get at Shop Rite.

Three weeks ago I went to Magoya Japanese Restaurant in chester, NY.Former owner of New City Sushi in New City, Kenny Shon, is now the mastermind behind this intimate Magoya Japanese restaurant. Kenny creative genius is presents in every bite, from his spicy tuna to his perfect unagi to the freshest uni, and to his unique "Special Roll","Tuna tataki" "Mango roll" all crave able delicacies. The staff is as warm and welcoming as they were at Magoya. Best sushi in orange county.
