Third time is always a charm...

My boyfriend and I visited this restaurant while visiting NJ to look for our new home back in June. Our first visit was amazing- the staff was incredibly nice, we got a great table, and the food was delicious. We had decided that night that this would forever be our favorite place to eat in the area. When we moved here, we brought our dear friends to Lamberti's and they too loved it just as much as we did. Our friend called this place "one of the best places he'd ever eaten at", and let me just say, he can be a very tough person to please!



Unfortunately, just a month later, we brought my grandparents here for dinner. We waited almost a half hour just to get our drinks and have our order taken! Our waiter was nowhere to be found. Yes, the restaurant was crowded, and there were two weddings going on, but there were staff members standing around watching people eat. After being there for an hour and a half, I asked the waiter if our food was coming out or not because we were going to leave. He said "we cannot rush salmon." I was appalled. Our family makes salmon weekly and it does not take this long. It came out extremely watery and for the first time, I was very unhappy. The total for the four of us was almost $200 and a huge waste of money and time. Unfortunately we will not be going back.



For the people who took care of us the first two times, thank you.

Great Dining Experience

I went to Caffe Aldo over the weekend and it was great! My husband and I pass by all the time but never had been their so we decided to scope it out. We had some yummy cocktails at their new bar before we decided to stay or not. The bartender was telling us that the bar was just renovated. It was an easy decision to stay for dinner and we were moved into the dining room. Our server was great and the food was even better! We shared a great delicious crabcake appetizer (our server suggested it) and I got the sea bass for dinner and my husband got the sirloin steak - he was skeptical at first, because not every restaurant can pull off a good steak, but it was delicious! I had a few bites of his steak and I couldn’t decide whether my dish or his was better. We are really glad we tried this place. It’s good to know of a great restaurant in Jersey – now we don’t have to waste so much gas crossing the bridge every time we want great food.

Terrible

Upon arrival at the restaurant, our party of 7 were greeted by an abnoxious young lady, who we found out later was the owner's (Aldo) daughter. She acted unprofessional to say the least. We were seated and waited at least 15 minutes until "finally" a waiter arrived.



We ordered our appetizers and wine, which we would give a passing grade. We order our entrees and the disaster begins. Three of our party received their entrees promptly. 1/2 hour later only two entree's arrived and they were cold and one of them was undercooked (both steaks). 15 minutes later, the last two entree's (fish) arrived. During this time, our waiter was being "hounded" by the owner, Aldo. We found out later, that our waiter was being overworked with tables, because apparently there were guests of higher "caliber" that required additional staff than us common folk.

In a way we felt sorry for him.



In summary, the establishment is over priced, the maitre` d and owner were extremely unprofessional and the food was fair at best. We will never go back and do not recommend that you waste your money or time dining at this "joint" !!!!

I have some questions for you that I hope you can answer, so that we can improve our operation. First, I would like to ask what date and time you dined at the restaurant. You had mentioned that Mr. Lamberti's daughter was the hostess - she has not worked at that particular location in months. Because of this fact, we were hoping you could describe the woman who seated your party? Was she young/older, tall/short, accent/or not, color of hair, etc. Anything you can provide for us would be greatly appreciated. Also, regarding your waiter - could you do the same and give us a description based on the questions above? This would be extremely helpful. As far as the food you ordered - could you be more specific? What kind of steak? Was the fish 'whole fish' filleted tableside? A seafood entree perhaps? Thank you very much for your time. As I mentioned, we are looking to improve our service and our food and would love to have your assistance in pinpointing what areas this is needed most. Finally, if you are comfortable, I would like to submit to you a formal apology. Would you mind providing me with your mailing address? Thank you again for your time.
