The Department of Public Works is a part of the city of Bethlehem in Pennsylvania, which has a population of more than 70,000 people. The department is responsible for the maintenance and construction of public infrastructure and providing basic services for residents. It includes an engineering bureau that reviews development plans, issues various permits and coordinates with other city departments. The Department of Public Works has a street bureau that is responsible for the maintenance of paving, street signs and potholes, as well as provides snow removal and leaf collection services. The department includes a mechanical bureau that services and repairs fire and construction equipment and police vehicles. It also supports a stormwater management program.
