This is absolutely one of the best dental experiences I have had, and this is from someone who has had a fear of dentists for most of their life. I tend not to even go unless there is a problem. I chipped a piece off of my wisdom tooth a week ago, and had some mild pain and discomfort. I went to the Locust St. clinic first, and they insisted it could not be pulled normally, and that I would have to be seen by an oral surgeon to cut it out. I was terrified, but I assumed they knew best, since they had taken my x-rays (decided in less than 15 seconds after looking at the tooth that it would have to be surgically removed). The only problem was that the surgeons they recommended would not be able to see me for several weeks. I resigned myself to taking tylenol, and then I started looking up other dentists. I called Akron Family Dental on a Monday, and told them what I had been told by the other office, and they made an appointment for me in 2 days. Dr. John Brooke was who I saw, and he is wonderful. The best dentist I have ever been to. He was friendly and professional, and told me he would definitely be able to take care of it. He laid out all of the risks that can happen with a wisdom tooth extraction to make sure I knew and was prepared for what could happen, and then promptly went to work with the help of his assistant (another lovely person named Rachel). He had to stick me more than once with the Novocaine, and I barely felt discomfort. It took him less than 15 minutes to do work to some cavities he discovered, and to pull out the tooth (that part took less than 3 minutes tops). He was so fast and did such a smooth job, I had to ask if he had finished taking the tooth, because I didn't believe he could've taken it out so quickly and perfectly. I was thrilled...as much as you can be at the dentist's :). Highly recommended, and I hate having to go to the dentist. I would go back in a heartbeat, I just hope I don't have to for awhile.

I went to this facility for a few years, I loved the atmosphere. My last appointment the Dr decided to pull a tooth that was closer to the front, I was scared and nervous! He became upset because I questioned his decision. This was my life we were talking about, I broke down crying to his assistant and she convinced me that it was a good idea. When Dr. Brooke returned he wouldn't even speak to me! I had already been there for a few hours so the numbing medicine had wore off, when he began to extract the tooth it hurt, I raised my hands in pain and in a demeaning tone he said "put your down" took the tooth out turned on his heels and walked out, never said anything to me!

My daughter went there to get her wisdom teeth removed. two days after was hospitalized in ICU for 5 days. I called this office four time to tell them she was hospitalized because of an infection they did and the Dr would not get on the phone with me. She has permanent nerve damage on the left side of her tongue. three weeks after the hospital a piece of the plier they use to remove the tooth came out of the incision site. we got a 3D scan done and there another piece of metal in there. hard to find another dentist that will even see her to remove the other piece and the infection is back.

It's always easy to get an appointment (sometimes same day) and we're in and out quickly, even with kids.

Very rude staff, mainly the manager. The office is dated and the equipment needs updated dearly. My entire family went for yoers when it was time to say enough.

They should look elsewhere. These people don't seem to care what they do as long as you can pay them. They'll run you around like nobodies business. When they're done with you they'll just push you out the door, no pun intended.
