Rio Hondo College, located in Whittier, Calif., enrolls more than 20,000 students every semester, and is fully accredited by the Accrediting Commission for Community and Junior Colleges of the Western Association of Schools and Colleges. It offers educational programs that prepare students for transfer to four-year colleges and universities; grants associate degrees in various specialties; certificates in technical and professional fields; and provides contract training for employer work forces. Rio Hondo College also offers community service classes in subjects, ranging from computer skills to cultural event fieldtrips. The college s administration of justice program trains police officers for more than 40 jurisdictions. Additionally, it offers fire technology, nursing, environmental technology, emergency medical technician, welding and automotive technology programs. The college offers evening and weekend classes and online distance learning programs.
