The food at Bazin's is delicious and the menu changes fairly frequently to match what is in season.
The service in the restaurant is usually attentive without being overbearing. The hosts can be a little unfriendly when you first walk in the door, though. I would definitely recommend having a reservation if you plan to dine at Bazin's on Church even if it seems like an odd mealtime as they are very frequently booked.
My main issues with the restaurant are the noise and space between the tables. The restaurant is extremely loud and makes it very difficult to hear your dining companion{s} even if they are sitting right next to you. Additionally, the tables are placed way too close together. On our most recent visit for my birthday, I found it difficult to even enter/exit our "booth" without bumping the person next to me. It makes the restaurant feel extremely crowded. The restaurant's attempt to expand the bar area for happy hour has not helped the situation as your have bar patrons practically standing on top of seated diners.

We arrived at Bazin's on Church at 5:20 pm on Saturday night. We did not have reservations but the place was empty. The host asked if we had reservations and we told him we did not. He replied, "Oh, can you get out of here by 6:30 pm?" We said we could. He then proceeded to seat us at a two-top table that was about one foot from another table. We asked if we could sit at an adjacent table that had more privacy. Despite the fact that the restaurant was empty, our host said, "I am afraid this one is reserved." He made no attempt to find another acceptable table. When we told him we were going to leave, he replied, "That is perfectly understandable," in an arrogant tone. We have eaten at Bazins restaurant many times in the past and found the food to be good, but it does not compensate for the rude treatment we experienced. We have many opportunities to recommend large group functions at this restaurant but will not do so in the future. This was a very short-sited approach to "customer service." If you cannot provide service to a customer at least greet and treat them with respect. The haughty, arrogant approach is never appreciated and will do nothing to foster future business. There are many fine restaurants in the Vienna-McLean are (e.g., Wildfire, Chef Geoffs, The Palm) - who needs to put up with the treatment we received at Bazin's on Church!
