BM Plus Automotive

Like the other negative reviews on here I bought the $20 Smog Check from Groupon. Once I arrive there, the owner -- Joseph Sedra -- immediately points out that it says there’s an additional $20 fee for it which was in fine print on the ad itself. Right away, this puts the price up there with the other centers that don’t have a “discount.”

I didn’t want to drive there for nothing so I agreed. When I go to pay he informs me there’s an additional $2 credit card fee. Oh, great! Would’ve been nice if they mentioned this in the ad (even in fine print).

I pay that too. Then first thing the following morning I get a voicemail from Joseph saying he refunded me $22 instead of charging me for it and asked that I come back to his shop with the credit card. What?!

When I called him back he said he contacted my credit card company and had them reverse the refund and charge me for the “correct amount.”

I checked my statement and on top of the $20 Groupon fee, he charged me $22 twice. So overall I’ve paid $64 for a simple smog check.

At the very least I’m going to have to contact my credit card company and then possibly even escalate this higher.

I had a really bad feeling when I went in here and sure enough the whole smog check deal reeked of a scam.

Stay far away and get your work done at a reputable place!
