Dental Examination
X-rays
Your first appointment will take about an hour and will be comprised of a thorough dental evaluation as well as a understanding of your specific concerns. We will also take the necessary dental X-rays to evaluate the teeth and the supporting bone and jaw structures. Dr. Vito will perform a Oral Cancer Screening exam, Head and Neck exam as well as a TMJ Screening exam.

While the American Dental Association (ADA) recommends that patients visit their general dentist at least once every six months to ensure proper oral health and functionality, the science supports 3-4 month hygiene intervals for adults. Especially those adult with extensive, complicated and/or implant dentistry. Dr. Vito will help you determine what is the best interval for you and your oral health.. Regular oral health check-ups, which can include teeth cleaning and X-rays, help to prevent the development of serious dental problems that may require more extensive and costly treatments.

Veneers are usually irreversible because it’s mandatory that Dr. Vito removes a small amount of enamel from your teeth to accommodate the added thickness of the veneer.

During your second appointment, the material is removed and replaced with a permanent material (and then a temporary material or crown is placed on the top portion of the tooth or crown).
Bridges

Root Canal Treatment
While Dr. Vito performs routine endodontic procedures, there are times where Dr. Vito will refer out to a root canal specialist called an endodontist. Endodontists are dentists who specialize in maintaining teeth through endodontic therapy. Such procedures involve the soft inner tissue of the teeth, called the pulp. Endodontic treatment is necessary when the pulp, the soft tissue inside the root canal, becomes inflamed or infected.

The Piezo Surgical Unit has been developed to overcome the limits of precision and intra-operatory safety existing in traditional bone cutting instruments. Piezosurgery allows Dr. Vito to obtain high predictability and low morbidity in bone surgery such as block graft, sinus augmentation procedures, and tooth extraction.
Ridge Augmentation
If you lose one or more permanent teeth, an indentation may result in the gums and jawbone where the tooth used to be. When no longer holding a tooth in place, the jawbone recedes and the resulting indentation looks unnatural. Ridge augmentation is a procedure that can recapture the natural contour of the gums and jaw. A new tooth can then be created that is natural looking and complements your smile.
Bone Grafting
In a bone graft procedure, Dr. Vito has many options to restore the integrity of the bone based on location. Dr. Vito can utilize a multitude of bone graft materials as well. Special bone grafting material and/or bone substitute material prepared by bone banks, or harvesting bone from another area of your body jaw, hip or rib. These materials are then grafted or joined onto your jaw bone to repair the defect.
