Ultrasound
Exparel is administered prior to starting surgery, while the patient is under anesthesia in the operating room. The medication is painlessly injected under ultrasound guidance in between the muscles of the abdominal wall. This is technically called an ultrasound-guided transversus abdominis plane, or TAP block.
MRI
Because of the risk of silent rupture, the FDA recommends that women with silicone breast implants undergo a breast imaging exam such as an MRI or mammogram every three years, starting the third year after the initial breast enhancement procedure.

One of the questions our mommy makeover patients ask us most often is: How soon after giving birth can the procedure(s) be performed? For surgical procedures, Dr. Greenwald asks patients to wait about six months after delivering to schedule their consultation, to allow their body time to recover and see how their shape changes. However, for non-surgical treatments such as Botox, injectable fillers and CoolSculpting, patients may have fewer restrictions than surgical candidates do.

Breast Augmentation
Capsular contracture (CC) is the most common complication following breast augmentation surgery. CC is the most common reason New York City patients with breast implants request additional surgery. By far, the best treatment for capsular contracture is its prevention; however, to date, there are methods to reduce but not eradicate its occurrence. Plastic surgeons do not currently know all of the causes of capsular contracture. Dr. Greenwald utilizes the latest techniques to try to keep the incidence of capsular contracture to a minimum for his patients (< 2%). Dr. Greenwald is up to date with the latest techniques in breast augmentation and also in the treatment of capsular contracture.
Breast Reduction
The recovery time for a male breast reduction patient can vary depending on the specifics of their surgery. In most cases, patients will experience some swelling and soreness immediately after their procedure. Most men are able to go back to work within a week, and resume typical exercise within a couple of weeks.
