Queens County is one of 62 counties in New York. Queens County is better known as Queens, one of the five boroughs of New York City. The estimated population in 2004 was 2,237,216. This was an increase of 35 per cent from the 2000 census. The county was named for Catherine of Braganza, wife of Charles II. It is the ninth largest country in the nation (by population), and ranked first in the state for population growth during the 1990 s.
