General Info

The Hillsdale Police Department enforces laws, preserves peace, and protects lives and property, as well as safeguards civil rights. It operates bicycle patrol, crime prevention, detective, juvenile aid, records and traffic bureaus. The department maintains a communication and dispatch center that responds to police, fire, and medical emergency and nonemergency calls. The Hillsdale Police Department provides fingerprint and firearms registration, accident reports and parking permits. It also conducts vacation home checks and home security surveys, as well as enforces parking ordinances. The department has an auxiliary police unit that handles parades, carnivals, road closures and emergency situations. The Hillsdale Police Department also supports Drug Abuse Resistance Education (D.A.R.E.), which is a classroom program that helps to prevent drug abuse and violence among children. In addition, it hosts School Resource Officer and ride along programs. The department operates a citizens police academy that educates people regarding its law enforcement services.
