Outside of college, I have been a lifelong Memphian and I feel blessed to serve the community as part of the team here at Gastro One. I met my wife Catherine at the University of Georgia, and she is a corporate attorney here in Memphis. Our interests include traveling abroad, eating out, exercising and watching sports (particularly UGA football). We also enjoy supporting local charities such as St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, Carnival Memphis, The Exchange Club Family Center of Memphis, Mid-South Chapter of The American Red Cross, and the Memphis Union Mission. Education and Training Dr. Harris was born and raised in Memphis and graduated from Christian Brothers High School. After receiving his degree in Biology with Magna cum Laude and Phi Beta Kappa honors at The University of Georgia in Athens, GA, he returned to Memphis for his medical training. During medical school, he received the Anthony S. Ficalora Award for “sensitivity to and respect for patients and who, by example and attitude, teaches others” in addition to being a recipient of the Bland W. Cannon Scholar which recognized medical students who “demonstrate a high degree of respect, empathy, compassion and humanism for the patients on the part of the physician in addition to a high degree of scholarship.” He served his residency and chief residency in Internal Medicine in addition to his fellowship in Gastroenterology at The University of Tennessee Health Science Center in Memphis, TN.
