Divorce

Child Support
Both parents have an obligation to support their children. Child Support is statutorily governed by C.R.S. §14-10-115 and is calculated pursuant to child support guidelines when the combined gross incomes of the parties does not exceed $360,000 per year. If your joint income exceeds $360,000 per year, the court can extrapolate beyond the child support guidelines if it so chooses. The obligation to pay child support continues until the minor child reaches the age of 19, dies or is otherwise emancipated, whichever occurs first.
Child Custody and Visitation
In cases involving domestic violence, men are more commonly accused of perpetrating such violence. Claims of domestic violence can adversely affect the husband’s rights in a divorce and/or child custody proceeding. In addition to the aforementioned civil consequences, the accused may also face criminal charges. It is highly recommended to consult an experienced domestic violence attorney when preparing a defense to allegations of domestic violence.
Paternity

If a child is born to unmarried parents, if parentage is questioned, either the father or the mother of the child can petition the court to establish paternity. Premarital Agreement
One of the exceptions, found in Colorado Revised Statutes § 14-10-113(2)(d), is property excluded by valid agreement of the parties. An agreement to exclude property formed before the marriage is called a prenuptial agreement, or “prenup,” while an agreement formed during the marriage is called a postnuptial agreement.
