Home Instead Senior Care

I want to share my experience with Home Instead Senior Care because I know what it feels like to be deeply concerned about who goes into your mother and father's home and how they are being treated (behind the scenes). I cannot overstate how kind, patient, upbeat, respectful and compassionate Ann (the Home Instead caregiver) is as she cares for my mother who suffers with dementia. She takes my mother for walks, engages her in activities, shares pleasant conversation, and even took her to have her hair done. While she doesn't remember her name, my mother does remember the kind lady who comes to visit her. I am deeply grateful Home Instead--thank you!

I want to congratulate Jeanne McCusker and her staff at Home Instead Senior Care in Charlottesville, Va. They were recently awarded the JD Power Award for Excellence and there are no doubts in my mind that they earned this recognition.My husband was diagnosed with a brain tumor and his condition rapidly declined. I found myself homebound caring for him until I found Home Instead. Jeanne herself conducted and interview at our home and helped determine our needs. The caregivers were wonderful! From preparing meals for Larry, reading to and with him, feeding my cat his lunch :-) and allowing me to get out for some much needed breathing room and grocery shopping, I gained some freedom back without worrying that my husband would be alone or need help.Toward the end of his battle with brain cancer he suffered a seizure at home while I was out for a short time. The caregiver immediately reached me on my cell, called 911 and followed the rescue squad to UVA Med Center in her car. She waited in the ER until I arrived all the while reassuring my husband that I was on my way and he was not alone.All my neighbors and friends know how highly I praise Home Instead and recommend them highly.

My mother was in real need of help. She suffers from complications to Parkinson's Disease and there are times when she simply can't do things for herself. I have a very chaotic and unpredictable career and can not always be there for Mom when I want to be. Enter Jeanne and her staff at Home Instead Senior Care! My mother was a carer for them herself and when she needed care we didn't even think of trying anyone else. Thanks to Jeanne and to Mom's carer, Maddie, for all your help during a difficult time!

My mother had a pretty large heart attack and was in a local rehab hospital. Though she was living independently before the attack we had serious concerns regarding her ability to care for herself once she was going to be released home.Not being local, I took a friend's recommendation and contacted Home Instead. The person on the phone was extremely helpful and arranged to do a home visit with me and my mother. Cheryle came out to the house and spent a good 2 hours talking to us about our needs, easing any concerns that we may have had about obtaining in-home services and mentioned several times that they (Home Instead) was the best at what they do. We inquired about their immediate availability (within a week) and were told that it would not be a problem. I phoned the next day to confirm that we wanted to proceed with services and faxed over all the paperwork. Though Cheryl wasn't available at the time Brittany (the Admin Assistant) assured me that we were assigned a case worker and that everything was good for Saturday. I didn't receive a call back from Cheryl that afternoon.The next day I rang them again to make sure everything was set for Saturday and mentioned that I had questions that I wanted to discuss with Cheryl. I was assured that plans were set and was told that Cheryl would get back to me. She didn't. Friday I phoned again, rather irritated. I mentioned to Brittany that we really needed the help and that I didn't have other options lined up. I was upset to not get a call back and said that I just needed to know if they couldn't come... that way I could make sure someone was there to help my mom until we found other help. NO CALL BACK!Not surprising by now to figure.... NO ONE showed up on Saturday when we had hoped to expect someone (and mom was released home). Thanks to Home Instead, we hadn't secured other options and the family had to jump through hoops to make sure she had care. I am SHOCKED that this place can call themselves care providers and am even more shocked that their reps can consider themselves "the best". Fortunately for us, we had family backup.... but for many they would have been left high and dry. DO NOT USE THESE FOLKS if you care about your loved ones.... Home Instead obviously doesn't!!!!!!!!!

My name is James Casson and I have had Home Instead for quite a rew years. I have found them to be wonderful and so much help for myself and my wife. I am a Korean Vet and my wife has Multiple Sclerosis. Home Instead helps clean our home, helps with the grocery shopping and any thing I may ask them for help with. They are always happy to help and always there to assist both me and my wife. It makes our lives so much better, happier and easier! We can not thank them enough!!
