American Heart Association is a national voluntary health agency that offers services to reduce disability and death from cardiovascular diseases and stroke. It offers the National Center, located in Dallas, and more than 10 affiliate offices throughout the United States and Puerto Rico. The association, along with the National Heart, Lung, and Blood Institute has launched a campaign to increase people's awareness of heart attack and the importance of calling 911 immediately at the onset of heart attack symptoms. American Heart Association s emergency cardiovascular care programs train more than 9 million people every year, and educate health care providers, caregivers, and the general public about how to respond to cardiovascular emergencies. It has signed legal agreements with national heart and resuscitation foundations, health ministries and other national organizations to develop emergency cardiovascular care training networks in more than 30 countries. American Heart Association is headquartered in Dallas.
